This week was my turn to host Tuesdays with Dorie! While I haven’t been baking a lot lately, I surely was not going to miss my turn in the rotation :) When I initially joined TwD it seemed like my turn was so far far faaaaaar away but now it’s here and I chose Dorie’s recipe for Cran-Apple Crisps. It seemed like a no-brainer to me as I love both of these fruits and using cranberries and apples seemed so perfect for the autumn weather most of the United States is experiencing :)
Admittedly I’m a few days late so instead of “Tuesdays” with Dorie, for me this week it became Thursday with Dorie :) As the saying goes “better late than never”, right???… right! Tonight I wanted something sweet and of course the family is always in favor of chocolate so nearly as fast as I could’ve made a box mix, I whipped up Dorie’s recipe instead. These are chewy, ooey, gooey, fudgey brownies that totally deliver on the decadence-factor… and used only a single saucepan to make the batter. Not only is this recipe quick and easy… it’s delicious too :)
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie hostess was Carol of the blog Mix, Mix, Stir, Stir and she chose Dorie’s recipe for the Perfect Party Cake. Having made this cake at least ten times since first being introduced to it in the Daring Bakers challenge back in February of 2008, I do agree this is the perfect party cake. Dress it up… Dress it down… even plain-ol nekkid… this cake is my hands-down favorite! Having made it so many times as a full-sized cake… and not wanting all that leftover cake in my house… for this week’s TwD I chose to go the mini-sized route and do cupcakes:)
If it’s Tuesday, we’re usually baking with Dorie, but this week instead of bakin’ we’re ice cream makin’ ;) Now if you’ve followed my blog for more than a week you’ll know that I really enjoy making ice cream. Check the archives and you’ll find a few recipes I’ve shared. I can’t say that I’m a fan of honey but I do like peaches so I figured I’d give this one a whirl… plus… I’m always looking for a good excuse to pull out my KitchenAid Ice Cream Maker attachment!
This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe was chosen by Tracey of the blog Tracey’s Culinary Adventures and she chose Dorie’s Cinnamon Squares. Pretty much it’s a cinnamon cake with a ribbon of melted chocolate topped by a layer of chocolate icing. According to my family this cake is a real winner! (more…)
