Cinnamon Roll Cake

Quite a few months back I started seeing this cake pop up all over the various blogs I frequent. It looked so absolutely appealing that I found it completely irresistible. After all, it’s cake, cinnamon and drizzly-glazy-icing… a winning combination in my book! If you’re one of the few people left who hasn’t made this cake, you really should. It’s about as easy as can be… and it spends far more time in the oven that you’ll spend getting it there or to the plate!

Quick breads are wonderful to make.  They work out great for a variety of occasions… quick breakfast… afternoon tea… last night snack… or even “just because”. They great to eat by yourself and even better to eat with others.  Fruity or nutty… sweet, savory or plain… quick breads are terrific.  Last weekend I had some ready-to-bake-with bananas and went in search of something other than the standard banana bread.  Hey… not that there’s anything wrong with standard banana bread, mind you, I just wanted to bake something different.  Am I ever glad I made this recipe because as far as I’m concerned any quick bread that is just as fresh and moist on day 7 as it was on day 2, well, that recipe is definitely a keeper!

Chocolate-Studded Monkey Bread

Monkey Bread… aka pull-apart bread… is easy to make and quite a delight to eat.  Just look at this picture – little fingers got to it and grabbed a piece before I could even snap a picture of it! Funny how those “little fingers” just happened to be mine ;)  But seriously, it’s hard to resist this stuff.  Individual balls of yeasted dough, seductively bathed in a combination of melted butter, cinnamon and brown sugar then baked to deliciousness.  My version has chocolate chips tossed in among the dough balls cuz, well, yanno, the family considers anything “good” to be “great” when chocolate is added! LOL!  While Monkey Bread is indeed good, “Chocolate Studded Monkey Bread”?  We’ll that’s absatively great!

The end of yet another month is upon us and that means it’s time for yet another Daring Bakers reveal :) The May Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Linda of make life sweeter! and Courtney of Coco Cooks. They chose Apple Strudel from the recipe book Kaffeehaus: Exquisite Desserts from the Classic Cafés of Vienna, Budapest and Prague by Rick Rodgers.

Easy Sticky Buns

This week’s Barefoot Bloggers recipe was Ina Garten’s Tuna Salad.  Now definitely I love tuna salad but to be honest this recipe absolutely did not float my boat.  That’s okay though… I mean not every recipe is for every body and this one just wasn’t for me.  I decided to participate in something new for the Barefoot Bloggers and that’s the Barefoot Backtracking.  It will be offered on occasion and allows you to make an old recipe and swap it for a required recipe.  The old recipe can be one that you’ve made and want to revamp or one that you’ve missed… and the recipe is of your own choice!  This was perfect for me this week and I took them up on the offer.  The recipe of my choice?  Ina’s Easy Sticky Buns :)
