This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe was the Parisian Apple Tartlette chosen by Jessica of the blog My Baking Heart. Without a doubt this has to be the quickest and easiest of Dorie’s recipes in “Baking From My Home To Yours”. Unfortunately I found myself scrambling quite late on Monday night without a single apple in the house. Luckily I had some leftover sliced apples from another recipe and was still able to make my version of this dessert just in time!!!
The recipe calls for an apple that’s cut into quarters and in the end bakes up to be quite attractive. While my homemade diced apple and brown sugar filling might not win an award for looks it did taste fantastic! I used Pepperidge Farms Puff Pastry since I always have a box of that in the freezer for “emergency purposes”… and a last minute creation for TwD certainly qualifies! While I might not have had an apple in the house I did have over a dozen golden kiwi! DH loves them so I made a second tart by spooning strawberry jam across the center of the dough circle and topped that with some sliced golden kiwi.

For some reason this tartlette didn’t puff up nearly as much as the apple one but DH loved it. The photograph is pretty awful… but the taste was anything but! The combined flavors of kiwi and strawberry were delightful.

Have a delicious day!

I actually prefer the kiwi tart; it looks perfect for the season.
You know, that almost looks like a mini pineapple pizza. Almost. Close enough that it would be fun to serve for April Fool’s Day next year :)
They both look delicious! That kiwi tart is calling my name though!!!
Waaaaaaaaaaay too hard on yourself! I think that middle photo especially is lovely!

I would have never thought to use kiwi.
Great idea.
Wow, so creative! I love both version but the kiwi one is so unique. Great job! Oh, and by the way, I definitely wouldn’t call your photography awful :)
Strawberry and kiwi sound so yummy! Thanks for baking along with me this week!! :)
The photo looks nice!! Strawberry and kiwi are a great flavour combination.
Those are beautiful photos! I absolutely love the color of those kiwis… they look perfectly juicy and summery :)
