This week’s Tuesdays with Dorie recipe was chosen by Tracey of the blog Tracey’s Culinary Adventures and she chose Dorie’s Cinnamon Squares. Pretty much it’s a cinnamon cake with a ribbon of melted chocolate topped by a layer of chocolate icing. According to my family this cake is a real winner!
This is one of the quickest and easiest recipes in Dorie’s book Baking From My Home To Yours. The ingredient list is stuff most of us have on hand in the house and you can whip this together in about 15 minutes.

The baking time stated in the recipe is about 35-40 minutes however I found mine stayed in for 48 minutes and still wasn’t done so I turned off the oven and left it in for another 5 minutes. My total baking time was closer to 55 minutes and truth be told it seemed to be just a tad bit under-done.

The frosting is just a combination of melted chocolate and melted butter slathered on good and thick. DH thought this cake was out of this world and the combination of cinnamon and chocolate was one he thoroughly enjoyed. If you’d like the recipe it can be found on Tracey’s blog or pages 210-211 of Dorie’s book. To see how the other TwD bakers fared with this recipe, please check out the Tuesdays with Dorie blogroll.
Have a delicious day!

Looks divine…love the use of the multi-colored dragees!!!!
I love this cake too! Your cake looks beautiful!
I think this would be a winner at my house because we’re not fans of chocolate I might leave off the frosting. What do you think?
It doesn’t look undercooked. It looks deliciously moist!
